biocluster computational power

We have two clusters of Apple hardware to handle data processing, BLAST, and a myriad of other bioinformatics applications. Cluster 1 is an 80 core setup spanning 10 nodes all tied together through Sun Grid Engine. Attached storage consists of 40 TB of RAID, Level 5 and mirrored. Cluster 2 is an older 3 node, 6 CPU machine that we use for development, web testing, and so forth.

The Microarray Centre produces pin-spotted cDNA and oligo chips and also makes available technology platforms from Affymetrix, Agilent, Nimblegen, and Illumina. We can help you design experiments and analyze data from any of these platforms.

Do you have a non-standard organism you want to work with but there are no commercial chips available? No problem! We can help you design a custom chip on the Agilent platform using public genomic resources or, if you have a collection of cDN clones, spot them down for you mechanically.

Our bioinformatics group's primary focus is the analysis of results from array based technologies. However, we also have a lot of experience in software, web, and portlet design. Contact us directly if you need some consulting or help in this area.
